Removal of lantana plants in Udawalawe Reserve and conservation of ecological balance
Elephants, birds, animals, and plants that are constantly threatened are living in our country. The threats to this torture are primarily due to environmental change. The Little Hand Foundation has made great sacrifices to protect the flora and fauna of Sri Lanka. Therefore, a project was launched to eradicate the endangered plant Lantana from the Udawalawe Reserve with the primary objective of protecting endangered species of animals and plants.
We also built several large tanks to provide water for the animals in the area. The main precedent set by society here is that we must first protect the environment before creating a better society. This human race is also a part of the environment. When the environment is lost, mankind will have no existence.
We must highly appreciate the support of the local community and the international community. The support and guidance received from animals and environmentalists are especially appreciated. This project is a government commendable project and the evaluation certificates issued by the Government Forest Conservation Institutions are attached herewith.
Through this project, we were able to preserve a vast ecosystem that Sri Lanka was on the verge of extinction. That good deed was praised by the local as well as the international community.
Project Status: Finished Project (2015 / 2016 / 2017)
