This educational workshop was organized by St. Thomas’ College, Kotte in collaboration with the Little Hand Foundation, made possible through the generous contributions of donors from Sri Lanka and abroad. The event brought together all students and teachers of St. Thomas’ College, along with selected students from surrounding schools, to highlight the importance of innovation and the value it brings to the country.
The keynote address was delivered by Deshabandu Saman Hettiarachchi, Founder of the Little Hand Foundation and a renowned inventor holding 27 international patents. His insights inspired students to embrace creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.
Key Features of the Workshop and Exhibition
- Using natural resources to create drawing colors, such as pigments extracted from leaves, bark, roots, and other plant materials as sustainable alternatives to artificial dyes.
- Guidance on creating new products and overcoming challenges, helping children understand the innovation process and the self-confidence it builds.
- Developing practical skills, encouraging students to gain confidence beyond theoretical knowledge and become more capable, inventive individuals.
